| My apologies to all for the lack of up-to-date information on this site during recent years. Personal and family misfortune has reduced my free time, health and finances. My plants have had the priority over the computer time, which has meant websites have been seriously neglected. I am aware of how out-of-date the information had become and so I decided to take the site down until I have time to revise the content. I hoped this would not be too long. But it may not be necessary at all if I'm lucky - see the good news below! Best wishes to all. | ||

Good News for the UK! For the last 30 years there have been two national UK societies for all people interested in the wide range of Pelargonium or geranium plants - the "British and European Geranium Society" and the "British Pelargonium and Geranium Society". Not only has that meant two subscriptions each year for some, but the division of volunteer's value time. Now back together there should be more time and effort available to promote our interest, with a combined membership and income. As from 1st January 2009 the two Societies have merged to form one new society called the Pelargonium and Geranium Society. An "Acting Management Committee" drawn from both societies is doing all that is necessary up until the Inaugural Business and Information meeting and the elections at the First General Meeting of the new Society on 14th March 2009, to be held in Broughton Astley, in Leicestershire.. The first National Show of the new society will be on Saturday, 20th June 2009, at the Greene King Stadium (previously Marston F.C. Stadium), Leicester Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire LE10 3DR, from 1pm to 4.45pm. Schedules will automatically be sent to all members of the new society, with the Spring Issue of the new "Pelargonium and Geranium News". It should be a very good show. If you require any additional information, please contact the Acting Secretary, David Steele, 8 Ingswell Avenue, Notton, WAKEFIELD, WF4 2NG. Membership subscriptions for the PGS (or PAGS) are due from 1st January 2009 and are: £10 single (UK); £12 joint (at the same address) (UK); £5 Junior (under 16); £150 Life membership (UK); £15 Affiliated Society (UK); £15 Individual / Affiliated Society subscription in Europe; £20 Individual / Affiliated Society subscription Outside Europe. Please contact the Acting Membership Secretary, Mrs Gwen Ward, 'Lyneham', Hullbrook Lane, Shamley Green, GUILDFORD, GU5 0UQ, or print out the membership form. There used to be four, seasonal Journals from each Society, and it is expected that there will continue to be four, seasonal Journals for new Society. The decision on whether to do this will probably come from the first General meeting. However before this meeting there will be a publication to inform all new members of the arrangements for the meeting and elections. The website for the new Society is not yet online, but I expect Steve is working on it as you read this. |
