| What many ordinary gardeners still know as a "geranium" may be a plant of the Genus Pelargonium
or a plant of the Genus Geranium. So what, you may say.
There may be a problem with this because the plants of the two general have
different growing conditions and there is some duplication of names. It would be helpful for everyone to use the common name of
pelargonium as well as the botanical name of Pelargonium for the
"Frost-Sensitive" "geranium" and the common name geranium as well as the Botanical name Geranium for the mostly
"Frost-Hardy" geranium
(or cranesbill). However this is unlikely to happen. Further clarification is therefore
needed for this page. Although the descriptive name "geranium" or even "Geranium" may be used solely in some of
the following link names, pelargoniums appear, at least in part, if not completely, as the plant group featured
in Society, Nursery of Reference. So that is what I have taken them to mean.
